The FOX News app for iPhone gives you access to the latest news stories from the channel in the palm of your hand.
You can use FOX News to check the latest headlines, stream live video of breaking news, listen to FOX News Radio, browse photo galleries, and watch FNC videos for free. It all comes packaged in a neat little interface - or rather two neat interfaces.
Hold your iPhone in portrait mode and you'll be able to scroll down the list of top stories and access one by clicking on it. Once an article is open, you're able to increase the text size using the buttons provided. You can browse videos, slideshows, and access previously-aired FOX News shows, using the tabs at the bottom of the user interface. Any content you access can be added to your favorites to be stored for later.
Flip the phone onto its side and a whole new interface will appear, called FOX News Desktop. Here, top articles and video stories cycle through the screen every few seconds, giving you an overview of what's hot at the moment. You can flick through these previews easily by swiping your finger. A live FOX News Channel ticker scrolls along the bottom of the screen.
Although the FOX News app does let you watch live video, it doesn't let you do this whenever you want. You need to sign up for breaking news alerts and then you'll be notified when live content is available for streaming. Also, we felt that the sports coverage in the app was lacking somewhat. It would be nice if FOX News had included some kind of score center in the application that would let you follow your favorite teams on the move.
Overall though, FOX News is a well organized and compact way to enjoy content from 'The Most Powerful Name in News'.
